The reason the Clos Montmartre vineyard gives onto a northern exposure is that it was planted clandestinely one night in 1932 to prevent construction of a building on the plot (agricultural land was exempt). It produces more than 2000 pounds of grapes, 500 bottles of wine and Bacchic revelry in October. Pictures from a vendange/harvest parade are at the end of this Montmartre tour.
