“Flash” art events pop up every now and then in Paris. Before a building is demolished, artists are invited to create temporary installations.

This one, called Lab 14, was a former post office destined to become residential spaces in the 14th arrondissement. Tour Treize (Tower 13) in the 13th arrondissement was a similar project a couple of years ago. |

Creativity spills onto the outside as well.

Artists submit their space requirements. The building’s owners dole it out accordingly. Work started in December and a month later it opened to the public for a couple of months. Then it closes, and demolition crews kick in.

Though this was a totally French project, the US of A gets several prominent mentions, as the election campaign was wending its way to a gruelling end. |
My impression was that Lab 14 had really good full dimensional installations – way better than other squatter-decorated strongholds in Paris like 59 Rivoli or Les Frigos with their primarily spray painted, flatter hallway and wall "canvases".
