A treat was getting to see the completed Hermione, a replica of the frigate that 21-year-old Marquis de Lafayette took to help American revolutionary forces in 1780. Several years earlier we had visited the construction site in Rochefort, another western France port city (upper right). It has since visited the States and made other celebrity appearances.
