Ollantatytambo ruins are among the best surviving examples of Inca town planning and the majority of the Inca blocks are still intact. At the time of the Spanish conquest of Peru it served as a stronghold for Manco Inca Yupanqui, leader of the Inca resistance. It is a starting point for the three-day, four-night Inca trail trek.
