The first weekend I was in NYC was the humongous gay pride parade commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising, which brought activists out of the closet when being gay was a crime. |

People watched from every conceivable viewpoint along the way. |
One of an estimated 2.5 million spectators watching 150,000 marchers in a parade that lasted a good 10 hours, I spent three hours at a frontline position behind a street barricade with a lesbian and three gay guys, having a great time. I just couldn’t last the whole 10 and a half hours. |
