The inn in Saint Ceneri le Gerei was a gathering point for artists in the 19th century, including Corot and Boudin. Our guide, the great-grandaughter of the innkeeper, told us about the way caricarturists projected images on the wall by candle light, then filled in the outline. Saw marks outlining a section of the artists' drawings on the walls testify to how it was saved during the war by removing and hiding it.
