The Jakhu (monkey) Temple is uphill from Christ Church. Given I took a wrong path, was pitifully out of condition and not yet altitude-acclimated, it took me more than an hour huffing and puffing. En route I received sage advice about putting my sunglasses in my purse and using my umbrella to ward off aggressive monkeys. I noticed long sticks for rent, but thought they were walking sticks. Later, I discovered their real purpose—self-defense against monkeys.
