My base hotel was in Kato Stalos outside of Chania, the Reneiris ...with mountains in the background, sea in the front. Family owned and run and just three years old, there was wifi in the rooms, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Only drawback was the 95 steps up to it by foot, but it was good for me. Daily routine consisted of catching up on personal and site emails in my room, long walks along the beach, dinner at an excellent nearby restaurant.
