At Saint Jean Pied de Port, a main stop on the route to Compostela, we got to meet and talk to real pilgrims! One who had walked all the way from Paris (500 miles) was taking a break after six weeks on the Camino de Santiago. She plans to return another time for the last leg, Saint Jean Pied de Port to the cathedral (460+ miles). Refuges for these inveterate walkers are endemic to basque country.
