50th reunion

The Class of '61 began planning our 50th reunion by e-mail during fall and winter of 2010.  We began by mailing enquiries and setting up this website designed and built by Linda Schnitker Quinet, currently living in Paris.  Cecile waded through 12 years of School Daze and wrote a brief history. Everyone was asked to send a summary of their last 50 years, prodded by Mary Ann Laun Parks until we were able to send Linda good info from Missouri.

Dinner Friday evening May 6 2011 at Whiskey Creek in St. Joe drew 11 class members and spouses.  Superintendent Ceglenski came, and class sponsor Phil Maher and his wife joined us from Colorado.

The classes of 1960 and 1962 joined us for lunch the next day at the Baptist church fellowship hall. Thirty-one came. Mary Ann and Yvonne did a great job decorating in a 50’s theme, and the conversation level was high.

Cecile distributed a questionnaire that revealed interesting things:

  • We are travelers and adventuresome. We have lived in or visited six of the seven continents, including nearly all the Caribbean islands. We’ve been to Canada, Labrador, Central America, Peru, Brazil, Argentina, and Chile, India, Australia, the Orient and Middle East, Egypt, Morocco, Zimbabwe, Kenya and South Africa.  We have climbed mountains, rode camels and elephants and flown airplanes. Linda is the most traveled, but eight others have trotted the globe.
  • Four have served in the military and two have been wives of military men.
  • Four have degrees from college….the same number as have ridden elephants. (!!)
